GNOME developers are preparing a completely redesigned UI of the GNOME Control Center app, which will probably be released with the upcoming GNOME 3.22 desktop with environment.
The GNOME programmer, Georges Basile Stavracas Neto he published an image that shows the GNOME Control Center update, which is used by default on many GNU / Linux operating systems, such as Ubuntu.
Linux friends know how it looks like the GNOME Control Center looks right now, but as you will see in the picture below, everything is going to change with a whole new layout.
As you can see from the screenshot, the new design of the GNOME Control Center has a sidebar for navigating the functions, displayed with pictures and descriptions.
A first preview of the new GNOME application should be available in the coming weeks, as part of the GNOME 3.22 desktop environment.
Unfortunately, GNOME developers have not yet decided whether the Renewed GNOME Control Center will be released in this or the next cycle as this will depend on how far the project has progressed.
Hopefully we'll see this in this circle with GNOME 3.22 to be released on 21 September 2016.
