Lower energy consumption and lower costs are the two main features of the new version of "barebonesComputer Raspberry Pi, B +.

Raspberry Pi

According to a BBC report, the cost of the new model - which comes as the Pi looks set to face increasing competition from other types of tiny (Beaglebone Black, Hummingboard, APC 8750, MK802 mini PC, Banana Pi, Matrix TBS2910)- will be $35.

The B+ is based on the same Broadcom chip as the older versions and also has 512MB of memory, but it brings a number of changes: analog and composite video it has been abandoned in favor of a four-pole connector, while the SD card slot has been replaced by a micro-SD unit. Also, better power management comes with the ability to manage four USB peripherals.

As Iben Upton, one of the creators of the system, wrote on the web of Raspberry Pi, "this is not Raspberry Pi 2, but the final evolution of the original Raspberry Pi".

He also pointed out that "we believe you will love Model B +, but to ensure continuity of supply for our industrial customers, we will keep Model B in production for as long as there is demand."
