Skype for Linux? Lately we have noticed that Microsoft's perception of Linux and the open world in general code has completely changed. Linux is developing at a rapid pace, so Redmond had no choice but to adapt and look at ways to get closer to an ever-growing community.
After the announcement of various Linux applications in the functional of Windows something no one would have believed 10 years ago, (see Bash for Windows 10), Microsoft seems to be preparing more surprises for Linux users. This time the company is specifically targeting Skype users.
In a teaser that posted Today in the forum of the application community, Microsoft announces "exciting news for Linux users," but without giving more details.
But if you consider that the teaser comes from the channel of Microsoft's Skype, it's not hard to guess that Redmond is probably getting ready to unveil some new Skyρe app for Linux.
It should be mentioned that Skyρe for Linux has been for years in the version (skype-4.3.0.3) which is criticized very often, not only because of its outdated UI, but mostly because of the fact that it doesn't have much characteristics that already exist in the Windows client.
Let's see what happens as the news will probably be released next week…
