Nintendo plans to release five games for smartphones and tablets over the next two years, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Friends of the company know that five games are an infinite number, considering the hundreds of games running on 3DS and Wii U platforms.
But her president Nintendo Satoru Iwata explained the reasoning of the company during the duration an interview.
Satoru Iwata said that Nintendo is planning to release these games, but that the company wants to be careful about how to get into the mobile platform.
Transferring an old game to a new platform makes it very difficult to match the gameplay that users are already familiar with.
Nevertheless, the old familiar characters will probably still be part of the new platform as well as its development project it is taken over by Hideki Konno, producer of Mario Kart 8.
Of course it is too early to have more details about the upcoming games. Nintendo, however, said the first new game will be ready by the end of 2016, while the rest will be released by March of 2017.
