"The open source software method of transferring technology from federal labs to the marketplace is extremely effective," said Linda Burger, director of the Proof NSA Technology Transfer.

"The open source community can leverage it of the NSA, and the government can benefit from the expertise and perspective of further development of the application by the community. It's a win for everyone -.. And for the nation itself"

To use the software, you must be running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.6 or 7.1, or equivalent versions of . The software was released under version 2 of the Apache License.

Traffic comes as part of the ongoing technology transfer program of NSA, a program that aims to make the code available at home and its availability in the open source community to enhance security.

The NSA budget is secret, it is rumored to be a little less than a billion dollars a month. So it's nice to give something to the online community in addition to watching everyone.
