Panama Papers: 223 companies and 400 Greek beneficiaries online

All Internet users are now able to search through a huge database of those involved in the scandal of Papers leaked by the Mossack Fonseca law firm via the website offshoreleaks.icij.org hosted by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).

The ICIJ launched the website yesterday, allowing other journalists and independent investigators to track down the people who used the of Mossack Fonseca to set up offshore companies.panama papers 1

According to ICIJ, the database contains information on nearly 320.000 offshore entities that are part of Panama Papers and Offshore Leaks.

The Panama Papers scandal came to light in April when the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, together with ICIJ, published a summary of the research on Mossack Fonseca's activities. The database is around 2.6TB.

For Greece now: The list includes 223 companies and 400 recipients associated with our country. Mentioned names of businessmen, journalists, footballers, and lawyers associated with them and their companies.

We should mention that setting up an offshore company is not illegal. Also, for Greece-related figures, we have to say that Greek beneficiaries of offshore companies may be linked to another country and not to their country of origin, if they have given address information to another country, or the details of legal representatives associated with the company.

You can search the database at the following e-mail address:
