Papaki.gr Sponsor of 1 TEDxHeraklion event!

It all started when 1984 was the architect and graphic designer Richard Saul Wurman noticed a convergence in its fields (Technology), entertainment (Entertainment) and design (Design). Who would have imagined then that, 30 years later, one of the largest innovation communities would be a driving force of inspiration for great ideas, worthy of spreading globally. Soon there was a need for expression and inspiration at a regional level, so local groups of supporters of the TED idea took over the independent events, TEDx events. "Ideas Worth Spreading"Is their mission and at 8 / 2 / 2014 we will welcome such valuable ideas to our island!

Significant speeches

Talks at TED and TEDx events cover a wide range of topics in the research and practice of science and culture, often through storytelling. In the first TEDx events, speakers came from fields related to the TED (Technology – Entertainment – Design) acronym, but during the 90s the range of presenters expanded to include scientists, philosophers, musicians, religious leaders, philanthropists and many others.

Within 18 minutes, speakers are invited to present their ideas in the most innovative and appealing way, with the aim of inspiring and paving the way for a better, bright future. A similar role was played by Bill Clinton, Jane Goodall, Gordon Brown, Richard Dawkins, Bill Gates, Bono, founders of Google Larry Page and Sergey Brin and many Nobel Prize winners in previous TEDx events.

Numerous and brilliant speeches have left the world like 2006, Ken Robinson was jokingly and horribly reported in the education system, claiming that school kills creativity, and Simon Sinek with his speech on how some of the greatest leaders have inspired them around, such as Martin Luther King, Apple founders and Wright brothers and the strong phrase: "People don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it".

It is also worth mentioning shocking speech by photojournalist Yannis Behrakis the 2013, which was featured as one of the best of 5 last years at TEDxAthens, starting with the phrase: ".. the most uncharted waters are in our soul"

We will be there!

We invite you on Saturday, 8/2, in the wonderful space of the Crete Aquarium to admire important speeches by special personalities, to reflect together and to chart the way for a new, brilliant future for our country and the world. For more information visit the official website of TEDxHeraklion.
