Microsoft released security updates for all supported versions of Windows 10 yesterday on Patch Tuesday March 2021. But it seems that once again the updates are causing problems for some Appliances.
In particular, the printing attempt may result in bluescreen errors on the affected devices.
Updates fix security issues with the second highest severity score.
One of the additional issues that these updates fix is a problem in the FILE ports. The issue is fixed with updates in all versions of Windows, from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
The following updates include fixing FILE ports:
- KB5000802 for Windows 10 versions 2004 and 20H2
- KB5000808 for Windows 10 version 1909
- KB5000822 for Windows 10 version 1809
- KB5000848 and KB5000853 for Windows 8.1
- KB5000841 and KB5000851 for Windows 7 SP1
These updates are not the first attempt to resolve issues related to FILE ports and printing.
In the update notes, Microsoft confirms that users may experience errorprint jobs after installing the update, but these will be limited to print jobs queued before the update was installed.
Print jobs already in line cannot be completed after installation and must be deleted and resubmitted.
One day after the updates, there are several reports on the Internet about various problems they cause.
According to reports, the updates may cause bluescreens in win32kfull.sys when printing after the update is installed. Some people seem to have fixed the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling printers on their systems, but this does not seem to work for everyone. Others solved the problem by updating the printer drivers.
The update may no longer be available for all Windows devices Updates. However, it is still available on the Microsoft Update Catalog website.
Microsoft has not recognized the problem, and the support articles, KB5000802 and KB5000808, have not been updated.
