From the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate of the Greek police, a case was investigated regarding the violation of the provisions of the legislation on intellectual property, by people who carried out these acts on a commercial scale, as a matter of habit and as a follow-up.
Specifically for this case, yesterday (19.11.2014) at noon in Patras, two 36-year-old locals were arrested, who had violated - "broken" the codes in a database with legal content belonging to a large company, which is active in in the field of Information and Communication Technology services.
Then, through their own website, they provided for free access to the base to other Internet users, thereby obtaining an illegal economic benefit.
More specifically, the investigation of this case started after a complaint - a lawsuit filed with the Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office, a proxy lawyer of the above company.
Executives of the Electronic Crime Prosecution immediately carried out an online investigation, the results of which, together with the complaints, were brought to the attention of the Athens District Attorney's Office and theenergy preliminary examination.
From the thorough digital police research and analysis of the data and data that followed, the two 36s were identified as administrators of the site in question through which the above illegal activity was carried out.
In this context, a police station at the Electronic Crime Division headed to the city of Patras and yesterday afternoon, conducted investigations, in the presence of a Judicial Officer, in the homes of the two 36s.
From the on-site digital research on digital media found, their illegal action was confirmed as web site administrators, while two (2) internal hard drives were seized.
The two 36s were arrested and the case file formed against them would be brought to the appropriate Prosecutor's Office.
The seized digital testimonies will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Division for further laboratory examinations.
