Toshiba has announced that it will supply Google with the processors to be used in the former models devices that will result from the Project Search.
According to a Japanese Nikkei newspaper, Toshiba is going to make available to Google three different types of processors, which can be used in both modules and on the phone itself.
That is, the agreement concerns both processors that will form the basis of the final device and processors that will take over the interconnection and transfer of data between the various modules that make up the device.
Shipments of processor specimens will start next fall, while mass production is expected to begin early next year. Toshiba will be Google's "preferred" supplier at the beginning of this process and when production is finalized, it will become the "main" supplier.
Perhaps this wording implies that Toshiba will be the manufacturer to offer processors in the Google-sourced models, and there will also be the possibility choiceprocessors from other manufacturers.
One of the most interesting points of the publication is the price at which the Project Ara device set begins, which is determined in 50 dollars, but does not specify what this proposal will contain.
It is worth noting that Project Ara is about Google's idea of building a phone from different modules that the user chooses and assembles based on his particular needs. Each phone, depending on its size, will consist of five to ten alternative modules.
