What is Project Jacquard; Το τμήμα ερευνών της Google Advanced Technology And Projects (ATAP) has announced that it is partnering with Levi's to create "interactive textiles." We could call it wearable technology in clothes.
With Project Jacquard, the company is trying to create electronic clothing practically for everyone.
According to ATAP, with Project Jacquard, they will try to change the way we weave the clothes, adding to the weaving circuits.
Google's Ivan Poupyrev describes the process of weaving wires into regular fabric, which led to the discovery of new kinds of conductive yarns, in many colors.
To see that the interactive fabric is practical in the real world, Google has given the famous Saville Row a jacket, which is shown in the following video.
Poupyrev did not give much detail about what the jacket can do, but he explained:
could allow the user to answer a phone call by pulling one of the sleeves.
Google also announced that it is working with Levi's to investigate creation of interactive clothing on a large scale. Levi's CEO Paul Dillinger explained why his company is interested in making electronic clothing.
"If there's a chance clothing might already love giving us access to our digital world while maintaining style, then this is a project worth doing," Dillinger said.
