Kaspersky Lab's Future Crew Team has begun one project on Kickstarter by name Pure.Charger. The purpose of this device is to secure smartphones, as their owners connect them to public or unreliable USB ports for a quick charge.
Some variants of malware are known to have the ability to "infect" shared storage drives data, such as USB devices. Plugging your phone into a USB port is a risky business, especially if you don't know what's on the other end of the port.

Pure.Charger, as described by the Kaspersky team Lab, is a simple in-out USB thumb-drive device, which separates the data stream from the electrical current. The gadget has a USB input at one end and a USB output to the other. It also has a touch screen on its top surface, which can be used to interact with the device, ie to enable or disable data lines on USB. By default, only power lines are active and no data is being transferred.
