Not long ago, Microsoft Edge (Chromium) got the Read Aloud feature on the Canary and Dev channels. Today it is available to Edge Insiders running the beta version of the program browsing.
Read Aloud enables reading files PDFs, EPUB books and web pages. Those who use it can adjust the reading speed and voice to suit them.
This feature is not new to the Edge application. Microsoft's old EdgeHTML browser already had it. But at the moment the features of Read Aloud are a little behind its predecessor, as it does not have enough features such as notes, page view and much more.
In Edge Chromium, however, it also supports PDF files.
To activate it open the internal address: edge://flags/#edge-read-aloud-pdf and enable the flag.
Read Aloud is available online and offline. If you are in an offline area, this can be very convenient. A basic set of voice options is also available when you are offline.
An Internet connection is required for the full set of voice options.
