Microsoft Edge (Chromium) recently acquired Read Aloud on Canary and Dev channels. Available today to Edge Insiders running beta version of the program browsing.
Read Aloud allows you to read PDF files, EPUB books and web pages. Those who use it can adjust the reading speed and voice to their liking.
This feature is not new to the Edge app. The old one EdgeHTML Microsoft browser already had it. But currently Read Aloud's features are a bit behind its predecessor as it lacks many features like notes, page view and more.
In Edge Chromium, however, it also supports the archives PDF.
To activate it open the internal address: edge: // flags / # edge-read-aloud-pdf and activate the flag.
Read Aloud is available online as well as offline. If you are in a region without an internet connection, this can be particularly convenient. A basic set of voice options is also available when you're offline.
An Internet connection is required for the full set of voice options.
