Following the breach of state-run servers, the hackers uncovered some misconduct by Melih Gökçek, mayor of Ankara.

The hackers claim that the employees of the public transport department "enhance the profile of the mayor" by registering fake Twitter accounts.

"These accounts are used to increase their numbers and to misinform the public" said representatives of the hacktivist group RedHack. "City officials work tirelessly to manipulate social media."

Hackers have published screenshots of email addresses, user names, and passwords for those people. The EGO employees' email addresses, including those belonging to webmasters, also leaked.

One of the reasons RedHack hit the subdomain ego.gov.tr is because of the collaboration between Tamer Sahin, a famous Turkish hacker, and the mayor of Ankara. The dictators have said that this collaboration shows that the authorities have begun to panic.

Last year, too many people were arrested by the police on suspicion of being linked to RedHack's hackers. However, the team declined to have any involvement with them, and continued to attack very high profile websites.

The hackers added that they also managed to break a state-owned FTP server, and showed evidence that the authorities are using pirated software.
