A person tracking system with unmanned aircraft (drone) through their cell phone, which could be used to locate stranded/disaster victims, was developed by Jonathan Chesso, an M.Sc. college student of the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne.
The drone flies, using two ισχυρές κεραίες για να ανιχνεύει τα πακέτα δεδομένων που εκπέμπονται από κινητά τηλέφωνα.
After an earthquake or other natural disaster, it is often difficult to locate the victim's place under the debris; however, most people, even in poorer countries, have mobiles, and the Mobile Communications Laboratory had the idea of using it this. When Wi-Fi mode is turned on, the devices emit data packets at regular intervals so that an observer may be aware of various parameters - such as the energy that characterizes a connection. This may vary depending on the environment, weather or interference. It is also weaker as thicker is the layer of debris than one person.
However, there is the question of the "connection" between these signals and the distance in meters from a point that characterizes the attempt to locate a device. With this system, the devices are detected via the GPS points of the detected signals.
"By evolving the system to automatically exclude the weakest signals, it has become even more accurate," Cheso explains. "Tests have resulted in the detection of a mobile phone on campus with great accuracy," he adds, while noting that the antenna has the ability to "guess" the router
