As Violet Blue says ZDNet the two researchers used decrypted greeting cards to acquire administrator rights, get passwords, install apps, and steal files from their victims' computers.

Ο Lakhani presented the attack at the RSA Europe 2013 conference on Wednesday, 30 October.

Mr Lakhani presented the findings of the survey to RSA Europe 2013 in a speech that had "Social Media Deception." The results were related to Project "Emily Williams", a test of penetration in a US government agency, which was conducted in late 2012.
