Samsung Galaxy S8 Skip the Iris Scanner

Is the new Samsung safe? ; H ομάδα των Γερμανών white-hat hackers Chaos Computer Club (CCC), ισχυρίζεται ότι ανακάλυψε έναν σχετικά εύκολο τρόπο για να ξεγελάσουν το σούπερ ασφαλές σύστημα of iris in Samsung's latest high-end device, Galaxy S8.

The CCC group has a long history of seeming to annoy tech companies by showing them vulnerabilities in biometric control systems s. A few years ago, CCC hackers showed how they can fool the iPhone's biometric security control, when with a fingerprint photo they managed to unlock the Apple device.Samsung Galaxy S8

Fingerprint scanners are certainly something we find everywhere now, but its high-end device S8 with iris scanning probably posed another challenge for hackers. According to the CCC, the new security feature isn't all that secure, as they were able to trick it with a "fake eye".

A CCC video shows how simple the trick they used. They just use night mode on a normal Sony digital camera to shoot an infrared photo of the phone user's eyes from a moderate distance.

After cropping the image, it prints in real size. Then place a contact lens on the printed iris to give it the proper curvature and the Galaxy S8 recognizes the print as the real eye of the owner and the device unlocks.

As Samsung hackers point out, Samsung Pay, which has already started operating in the UK, gives users the ability to make purchases (payments) by scanning the iris.

“The security risk to the user from iris recognition is even greater than with the as we expose our irises a lot. Under some circumstances, a high-resolution image from the internet is enough to replicate an iris.”

Meanwhile his home page Samsung Galaxy S8 says:

"We take great care of your privacy and so we created the Galaxy S8 and S8 + our safest phones."

OK Saamsung….
