RSA Asia: Pop star and activist Sir Bob Geldof hates Pokemon Go, Facebook and Twitter, and as he says he never bought anything online. It still uses an ancient Nokia 3100 so it does not have to take care of its safety on the internet.
The Irish pop star was in Singapore on duration of closing at the RSA security conference.
She stated that Digital Lives is a diversion of hers cautions from humanity's mission that gives room to "idiots" like Democratic presidential candidate Donald Trump, to far-right anti-immigration parties, and to bring prosperity to the poor.
"I have absolutely no need for any cyber security because of this device," Sir Bob told delegates, displaying his ancient silver Nokia.
“… People are fed up with nonsense like Pokemon Go, for fuck's sake.”
Sir Bob Geldof said he was "very disappointed and saddened" by Brexit, and feared the rise of nationalist and far-right leaders.
On the other hand he praised the ability of technology to spread prosperity, but he pointed out the huge gap in the field of education and the essential access between the West and the developing world, prompting policymakers to think about how IT could help alleviate poverty.
Bob had flown to Singapore after a concert with Boomtown Rats at Brentwood Festival in the United Kingdom.
Definitely the established kalliart added a unique more human touch to the RSA Security Conference.
