Good news for Microsoft friends after having one company cooperation with Signal, a secure messaging app, is getting ready to add end to end encryption on Skype.
This means that all the conversations, files and audio messages that are sent and received will be transmitted safely through the service and you will be able to read them only by you and the recipient.
So the company tries to ensure that the data passing through them servers of the service will not be monitored by anyone. No one will be able to record or analyze data passing through Microsoft's servers, as Facebook messages are supposed to do Messenger, on WhatsApp and Telegram.
However, this encryption will not yet be applied to audio and video calls. For these, the standard encryption offered by Microsoft with this service will be used.
The feature security feature is currently available in the latest version of Skype Insider for Mac, Windows, Linux, Android and iOS.
We should mention that for this to work, both parties should be using the latest version. As TheVerge reports, Microsoft would do well to enable this feature up frontchoice, when released in an upcoming final version of Skype.
