Η Apple is reportedly developing a complete software platform through which the user will be able to use the iPhone as a control for the control of all home appliances.
According to a report from the Financial Times, Apple is about to announce this software platform through which it will be possible to control "smart" and Internet-connected household appliances, home lighting and security systems.
The Financial Times argue that the platform will make its maiden appearance at congress developers WWDC, which will take place next week (2-6 June) in San Francisco.
Beyond interfacing with devices iPhone and iPad it will be possible to interface with it as well Apple TV, which is expected to be upgraded to hardware level in the year. The platform "Smart House" will allow third-party manufacturers to identify devices and ensure their proper functioning. Some of the "third" manufacturers are expected to be Dropcam (home security systems), Philips and Nest.
It is speculated that Smart Home will be able to work with Bluetooth technology for some automation functions, while some analysts believe that the next iPhone will incorporate NFC technology that could also be useful for testing home appliances.
Apple's entry into "home technology" will obviously bring it in a straightforward confrontation with companies like Samsung and LG Electronics, which have presented a multitude of "smart" home appliances and applications. At the same time, competition with Google which, after the acquisition of Nest, seemed to be turning to that particular segment of the market.
