Women more addicted to smartphones

The addiction from it can cause discomfort, not only for the people who maintain it, but also for those around them. A conducted in South Korea found that women are more prone to smartphone addiction, compared to men.add smartphones

The study was conducted by Professor Chang Jae-yeon of Ajou University and is based on a survey of 1.236 students held in six schools in the country, according to the Korea Times.

The showed that women are actually more addicted to smartphones than men, contrary to popular belief.

The study reports that 52% of women in research used their phones for four hours a day or even longer while only 29,4% of men spent so much time checking their phones. 22,9% of women use their smartphones for six hours a day, twice as many as the 10,8% of men.

Women use their mobile phones, mainly to control social networking sites, especially Facebook and Instagram.

This particular research finding is in line with some previous statistics which showed that there are more female accounts than male accounts on Facebook. 20,1% of the women who participated in the study said they felt extremely insecure when they could not use their smartphones while only 8,9% of men felt the same.

The study states that women's wishes for networking and communication are stronger than men, making them more vulnerable to reliance on social networking sites and their smartphones.
The study concluded that women's dependency is 10% higher, compared to men.
