A smartwatch that focuses on its space fitness seems to be preparing the Microsoft, according to press reports on recent patent disclosure.
Smartwatch will track the location and route of the user via GPS, as well as its movement through special sensors. At the same time, it will monitor heartbeat, like other devices.
It is noted that Microsoft recently launched an initiative to transfer / bring Windows into small-sized devices, targeting the so-called "Internet of Things". The first software development kit (SDK) is expected relatively soon.
This sector is expected to be a place of intense competition in the near future, especially since Google announced it is preparing a special Android platform for wearable devices. There are already giants such as Samsung and Sony, and many expect a similar move from Apple. Until now, however wearables have not yet acquired a mainstream character.
According to analysis by Forrester Research, an important role in the future of wearable computers will be played by their software. As mentioned in a related New York Times article, Forrester analyst Julie Ask estimates that "the success of wearables will not only depend on the hardware...the success will depend on the mobile applications and how effective they will be in terms of change their 'behaviour', based on data, their 'acumen' and recommended actions on the use of mobile devices by consumers".
Ask is one of the authors of the company's The Mobile Mind Shift, which will be released in June, and examines how mobile device software will continue to affect businesses in the future.
According to Forrester's report in February, although hardware certainly fascinates consumers, "software" is the key to creating "links" between companies and their customers.
