What can one do for mobile devices to report the bug: Κατά την τελευταία δεκαετία, το Department of Corrections της Washington (DOC) έχει απελευθερώσει χιλιάδες κρατούμενους νωρίτερα, λόγω ενός σφάλματος στην κωδικοποίηση του λογισμικού που χρησιμοποιεί. Το τμήμα του αμερικάνικου Υπουργείου Δικαιοσύνης, γνωρίζει το theme since 2012 but has not been able to resolve it yet.
The problem starts with a program that uses a point type system, to reward well-behaved prisoners (if the prisoner did not commit new crimes while serving his sentence).
However, the application was not properly coded and distributed more points which allowed prisoners to be released earlier. 2012, a victim's family, has warned authorities, and since then the bug is known, says Engadget.
To date, 3.200 prisoners have been released earlier. Although the majority was released earlier in 55 days, the problem still does not exist.
The authorities on their part report that a patch will correct the problem that still exists but will be implemented early next month.
Penalties until then will be counted manually to allow for proper release in the interval until the software is repaired.
Meanwhile two federal prosecutors – Robert Westinghouse and his Carl Blackstone and Yarmuth Wilsdon law firm – began conducting an independent research.
The US Department of State claims that the software has not received any updates from 2012.
