Sound-Proof: Two-factor authentication can greatly help protect your electronic accounts, but it's definitely an extra trouble.
It is well known that some do not risk violating their accounts and thus use (we highly recommend) the time-consuming interaction with their smartphones.
But apparently a new one is developing tool called Sound-Proof. It is a new application designed to authenticate logins with ambient sounds.
The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, which is developing Sound-Proof, says:
With Sound-Proof, the second authentication factor is the proximity of the user's phone to the device used to connect. The proximity of the two devices is verified by comparing the ambient noise recorded by their microphones. The recording and comparison of sound is similar to two-factor authentication.
Φυσικά χρειάζεται και μια connection on the Internet.
The tool only raises the digital signature of the sounds, not the real sounds, for an extra level of privacy.
It sounds very practical, but there are still potential problems.
ό χώρος θα μπορούσε να είναι μια καφετέρια μια βιβλιοcase or a school.
Researchers admit this could happen, and try to resolve it.
