The Statista website just sent an email to all its members. The e-mail states that someone hacked the website and managed to access the database data of the site.
The Statista website is known for its infographics created by its own or scientifically-based statistics. Infographics were often published by many large and valid sites. The email indicates when the violation occurred but only that passwords and user names have leaked.
Despite extensive security precautions, someone unknown to us illegally gained temporary access to our customer database. We want to draw you to it caution as the matter is of vital importance to us. We can also assure you that the security breach has now been closed by our team.
However, there is still the possibility that some of your personal data may have leaked:

And the password (masked)According to the internal evaluation by external IT professionals, password data can not be used by third parties due to encryption. Of course, you can change your password at any time from your profile if you wish.

We recommend that you change your password immediately if you were a member of the site and where else did you use the same code. No one can be sure if the company says the codes are encrypted.
