The Stremio is an application developed with Electron and can stream movies, TV shows, shows channela Youtube and TV channels, from torrents. Does the idea sound familiar?
Of course it reminds you of Popcorn Time, and as there are many other developers out there who envied his glory.
It is important to note that the use of the Stremio application is illegal in some countries, in others yes and no, while in a few it is completely legal. Usually streaming services from torrents do not go well with the entertainment industry, and probably the same happens with Stremio, sooner or later.
Until then: Just like Popcorn Time, Stremio can be installed on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux as well.
The application automatically downloads subtitles and can display content on AppleTV, Chromecast, Smart TV (via DLNA), but also portable devices.
The app is not open source, but it is free. The source code is not available, but there is already one entry to GitHub only used for add-ons. Yes the application will also use add-ons!
The new Stremio app seems to work very well, so we'll see how long it will last…
