"Today, many companies have included cloud storage in their backup options to gain the benefits of resilience, agility, incremental pricing, or simply to modernize older storage methods," said Ana Pinczuk, Senior Vice President. Veritas Backup and Recovery.

"NetBackup 7.7 is designed to leverage these storage alternatives in the best way possible, enabling businesses to easily and uncompromisingly integrate cloud storage into the backup practices they use."

This latest version significantly improves the performance and interoperability of backups stored in cloud environments such as its own Web Services (AWS), της Google, της Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), της Verizon, και της Cloudian.

“As the volume of business data continues to grow, businesses need better tools to adequately protect that data. NetBackup 7.7 is designed to deliver faster and easier recovery with improved performance and more efficient storage techniques to manage data protection at every tier of storage,” said Phil Goodwin, Director, Storage Systems and Software at IDC.

The new cloud connector of NetBackup 7.7 is specifically designed to optimize backup and recovery processes through the Amazon Simple service (Amazon S3). The new connector uses multi-streaming and other techniques to make full use of network bandwidth, significantly reducing backup and recovery times compared to previous versions. In addition, NetBackup 7.7 supports cloud gateways such as NetApp and AWS, using a tiered approach to backup to cloud environments.

NetBackup's innovative Auto Image Replication (AIR) capability also works with cloud backup, enabling businesses to effectively store catalogs and backup data on cloud platforms, while achieving effective de-duplication. New clever policies for Microsoft Hyper-V and Microsoft SQL Server help businesses increase their flexibility and provide the necessary managerial capabilities to the people authorized to do so.

Customers who have long used it, commented that the Veritas NetBackup 7.7 platform simplifies infrastructure management by providing advanced, automated procedures and controls that adequately protect complex physical and virtual computing environments.

"Datalink and Veritas have a long, shared success. NetBackup is the solution we use to store and retrieve our data, ”said Mike Spindler, Practice Director, Data Protection and Storage at Datalink. "We are excited about Veritas NetBackup 7.7, cloud enhancements and enhanced array based snapshots data protection. "This will help our customers reduce costs and complexity, enabling them to better meet their business needs."
