Artificial intelligence has found its role in US political life with the presidential election on the horizon. Trump supporters "photograph" him with his black voters.
In the battle for the US presidential seat, supporters of candidate President Trump are circulating online photos created by artificial intelligence showing him hugging black voters.
Keen observers of AI images will spot the unnatural glow that is characteristic of images produced by apps like Midjourney and Stable Diffusion. However, the Trump supporters who created these images released them as authentic.
The BBC shared two of the images found in his research. One shows Trump at a Christmas party surrounded by black people. In this image, a man wears a hat that has illegible text on it, a telltale sign of an AI-generated image.
In the second photo, Trump is seen sitting with six young black men. The image contains inaccuracies in Trump's hand, a sign of artificial intelligence.
The BBC Panorama investigation says "there is no evidence to directly link these images to Mr Trump's campaign". But black voters will play a central role in this year's presidential election and a recent poll of the New York Times showed that support for Democrats is declining among women, Latinos and blacks.
The fabrication of false images in presidential elections is not new fruit. There was an earlier episode when Trump posted AI-generated footage on his Truth Social platform showing him praying with six fingers on each hand!.
Should we live in such situations in our own actions?
