The dangers of turning cars into computers were made known to one unlucky Cybertruck owner who claimed a wash destroyed the $80.000 car.
Tech-savvy people know that computers and water don't mix, but cars do get dirty.
Let's see what happened:
As he says Jalopnik car magazine, a TikTok user posted a story about how his Cybertruck ended up on the beach.
It was a great day but on its way restitutionHe stopped at a car wash to clean the sand from the luxury car. For most drivers, this sounds perfectly reasonable.
He then parked in the garage, where the expensive car breathed its last. The screen in the central console, which is absolutely necessary for the operation of the Cybertruck because it houses critical information, went black and became unresponsive.
Our hero, probably amused, followed Tesla's instructions for a hard reset. He then waited for the Tesla "T" to appear on the screen but it never did.
Everything else, including the rear seat monitors, seemed to work fine. Except driving the Cybertruck without the center console would be terribly unsafe.
However, the ending is not so dramatic. In another video, he explains that he opened a service ticket with Tesla and the next morning, when he went to collect some of the things he left in the car, he saw that he had woken up.
He also received a call from Tesla. The company's counsel stated that “it is a known issue in Cybertruck that when you do reset screen, it doesn't take the typical two minutes, but five hours."
So when the hard reset started, it took half a night to complete. This is another issue with computers, the errorthe software. The bug has been logged and according to the company “will be addressed in a future update”.
