An ESET researcher discovered yesterday that the notorious TeslaCrypt ransomware stopped working and that it offers free decryption keys that anyone can use to unlock their files.
The researcher said he contacted the TeslaCrypt ransomware developers through the web support channelσελίδαs they were asking for ransom on the Dark Web. The scammers admitted that they stopped TeslaCrypt from working, and that they offer a master key decryption for all users.
The scammers published the decryption key on their Dark Web website, with the following message:
"The project has stopped. The primary decryption key is [KEY]. Wait for someone to create a universal decryption software. ”
The master decryption key works for infections from TeslaCrupt v3 and V4, which use a sub-file extension in each encrypted file in the .xxx, .ttt, .micro, or .mp3 format.
