Timelapse videos of great technical projects have always been thrilled. Through them you can see overwhelming work being done in a minute. And maybe you can feel the awe of a construction.
The ability to watch one timelapse video of a little more than a minute, but including months of work, to excavate the front exit of the Kokovas tunnel, gives us the consortium building the Ionian Road.
The tunnel on Mount Klokova (in southern Aitoloakarnania) has a length approaching 2,9 km.
It is a pair of tunnels, with two traffic lanes in each direction, which include all the necessary auxiliary systems operation at latest technology equipment them, such as fire systemsdetections, fire fighting, ventilation and driver information.
For emergency situations, seven vertical (connecting) escape tunnels will be built, while reverse traffic, before and after the tunnels, will be able to reverse traffic.
