Sixteen days after the capture of the Kickass Torrents Administrator in Poland by the US authorities, Torrentz.eu, the world's largest Torrent Internet search engine, stopped working according to the messages appearing on its home page.
So at this time the Torrentz.eu page, where thousands of users have flocked to look for torrent download links, displays a message saying:
"Torrentz was a free, fast and powerful meta search engine, with combinations of results from dozens of search engines."
If you try to do a search, or click on a link on the web page, the message changes to:
“Torrentz will always love you. Farewell ”or“ Torrentz will love you forever. Goodbye."
All domains of Torrentz show the same page, from the main one domain .EU up to .me, .ch, and .IN.
To mention that before the abrupt stop operation of the Torrentz.eu website had managed to reach number 186 in the Alexa rank.
The website was started in July 2003 by a person named Flippy. The purpose of the website was to search for torrents from several major portals and different ones Trackers. This allowed users to download torrent files from multiple trackers, and speed up slow downloads.
With continued legal pressure on The Pirate Bay and following various arrests and the closure of Kickass Torrents, it seems that Torrentz.eu administrators have decided to stop the site from running in order to avoid any future legal problems.
When YTS closed yesterday, the MPAA revealed that it had made a court settlement with the YTS manager, who then decided to stop any pirate activity.
