CityMobil2: Buses without driver in Trikala

The municipality of Trikala is one of the five European cities where unmanaged buses will be tested under CityMobil2. However, the legalization of automated vehicles should be preceded by cooperation with the Ministry of Transport.

Trikala, which were awarded 2009 as one of the most "smart" cities in the world, competed with other 11 European cities across Europe and managed to qualify in the five cities that will run six months of testing.
In a letter addressed to the Development Company of the Municipality of Trikala, e-Trikala SA, the coordinator CityMobil2, Andriano Alessandrinreports that Trikala scored the highest rating and won the congratulations of the European Union's auditors.

Robotic routes

The four-year program CityMobil2 (Cities demonstrating cybernetic mobility) started in September 2012. A total of 45 European partners participate, while from Greece from e-Trikala SA, the Research University Institute of Communication & Computer Systems of the National Technical University of Athens also participates.

The 12 partners represent the same number of cities / regions (Trikala, Reggio Calabria, Leon, Saint-Sulpice, Sophia Antipolis, Vanda, Brussels, La Rochelle, San Sebastián, CERN, Milan, Oristano) : Yamaha, Robosoft, 2GetThere, Induct, Movemile.
For the licensing of experimental vehicles, e-Trikala SA has started the exchange of data with the office of the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks Michalis Papadopoulos.
Experimental public transport vehicles will be driven on a predetermined route that has already been determined.
