X, or Twitter, started rolling out audio calls and video. Several users on the platform received one notice upon opening the app, which says: “Audio and video calls are here!”
There is also a new setting “Enable callaudio and video" which states that you can "turn on the feature and then choose who to use it with".
Includes options to allow audio and video calls only from people in your address list, people you follow, verified users, or all three.
You can then make a call by opening a DM with another user by selecting it icon of the phone in its upper right corner screen and selecting audio or video call.
X hasn't officially announced the launch of the new features, but Elon Musk has long mentioned adding audio and video calling to the platform as part of his goals to make X an "app for everything." Musk recently said the feature will be available on iOS, Android, Mac and PC, with "no phone number required."
We currently don't know how many people the company has rolled out the new features to, or if only Premium users can use them.
