Yesterday, the upcoming functional system Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) had another update to its core.
This time, LTS has been updated to accept the latest stable version of Linux kernel 4.4.6, just before the release of the final Beta which will happen later today March 24th.
We do not know if this version of the kernel will be added to the final Beta ISO but if you are interested, you can easily install it from the repositories.
After today's final Beta, the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) development cycle is coming to an end. The freeze on core upgrades will be in effect from April 7th and we'll probably see an RC version (Release Candidate) around April 14th (undisclosed).
So the final version of the Ubuntu 16.04 operating system will be released, as planned, on April 21.
