The development of the Ubuntu 16.10 Yakkety Yak operating system continues to progress normally to Canonical's headquarters, and today we have some good news for Ubuntu friends.
Η team of Ubuntu Kernel has informed the OS community that Ubuntu 16.10 Yakkety Yak will soon be updated for the latest stable Linux 4.6 kernels.
The development team will then release Release Candidate with the Linux 4.7 kernel, and after that, the operating system will finally be released with Linux 4.8.
So with Linux kernel 4.8 we could also have the next LTS (Long Term Support). Of course we mention this as the latest LTS version "wears" Linux kernel 4.4, which is used in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Xenial Xerus.
The development of the Linux kernel 4.8 will start sometime this summer, one week after the release of the Linux kernel 4.7.
After seven or eight Release Candidate, the final version of the 4.8 Linux kernel will be released by September, while Ubuntu 16.10 Yakkety Yak will be officially released on October 20 2016.
That's why there's a lot of chances to see it in this particular version of Ubuntu.
Let's see…
