Junaid Hussain, ο ηγέτης της ομάδας Islamic State Hacking Divison που εργάζεται για τον ISIS, σκοτώθηκε την Τρίτη σε attack μη επανδρωμένου αεροσκάφους (drone) από το στρατό των ΗΠΑ, σύμφωνα με την Wall Street Journal.
Hussain, also known as Abu Hussain al-Britani, was a British, who joined ISIS a few years ago and created a hacking group in Syria called CyberCaliphate.
Prior to joining ISIS, Hussain had gained reputation in hacker circles after he had broken and stolen the e-mail address book of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. This was 2012 and Hussain spent six months in prison for his deed. A year later, he moved to Syria to join ISIS.
As a leader of CyberCaliphate, he spent most of his time recruiting new ISIS members through social networks, but he also participated in the creation of various hacking tools as well as in the training of new hackers within ISIS.
His biggest success in hacking was in August when he managed to leaked data from several US nationals which belong to the Air Force, Navy, NASA, FBI, State Department and New York and New Jersey Port Authority.
The data was posted on Twitter, with Hussain and other ISIS members urging "lone wolves" to analyze them and carry out attacks on military personnel.
According to reports on the internet, the US military used tracking technologies built into today's smartphones and apps for mobile phones, and managed to track down and kill Hussain by hitting him with a drone while he was in his car in front of his house.
