A new developer snapshot of the proletterVivaldi browser brings additional options to securely protect your privacy.
Today's version 2.12.1838.3 includes the Tracker Blocker, as well as some improvements made to the Spatial Navigation function.
Vivaldi started as an app with the promise of a highly customizable, fully functional, innovative browser. It seems that the developers are trying to keep their promises, as at the moment there is no other browser in the market that offers so many options and features.
The Vivaldi app is built on the Chrome engine, targeting power users. Vivaldi was created by the former co-founder of Opera and developed with the usability and power of Opera browser in mind.
Vivaldi is now working with DuckDuckGo and uses the DuckDuckGo extension list Privacy Essentials. It is based on DuckDuckGo Tracker Radar, which crawls the web constantly searching for and tracking trackers on important sites.
This feature is not enabled by default in this dev snapshot, so you will need to enable it to try it out. Visit a website and do click on the new shield icon to the left of the URL to disable a website's tracking.
The new application also brings another new option in Settings - Privacy - Content Blocker - Tracking Blocker. Enable Block Tracker on all sites to enable it by default on the entire web.
This will allow you to use the shield icon to disable (or enable) site tracking.
In addition to the above, Vivaldi has added another feature called "Spatial Navigation". Allows the user to browse websites with his keyboard by holding down "Shift" and using the arrow keys. If you want to try out the new Spatial Navigation, you can enable it from: Settings - Webpages - Spatial Navigation.
