VideoLAN, recently revealed information about the upcoming VLC Media Player 4.0 in one first presentation held at FOSDEM 2019.
VLC Media Player 4.0 will be the next major version of the application and will bring new and improved features. But according to the company, the support for older operating systems.
In short, VLC 4.0 will no longer support Windows XP or Vista, Mac OS X 10.10 or later, Android 4.2 or older and from iOS 8 or older.
VideoLAN has released a preview version of the app for those who want to try it out. Before downloading the new version, it is a good idea to reconsider, as this is a preview version. This means that it is under development and may present you with errors, missing features and many more and unpleasant.
The new VLC Media Player 4.0 app will come with many changes in appearance, changes in video output architecture, media library, playlistsproduction etc. It will support virtual reality, 3D and more.
The multimedia library used in the Android version of VLC will come in both desktop and iOS versions.
Features will include audio and video indexing, playlist support, and music and video sharing support.

VLC 4.0 will support virtual reality devices such as Vive, PSVR or Oculus. Developers have managed to find a way to interact directly with these devices so that it is not necessary to install drivers.
