What happened to Popcorn Time and YTS.to

A confused situation is in from yesterday when the popcorn Time download the Facebook and Twitter account accounts (the Twitter account came back after a few hours).

At the same time, the torrent tracker YTS.to, which feeds video to Popcorn Time's streaming requests, is also out operation. We do not know if the holidays are connected in any way, but the combination causes great concern.popcorn time

Let us also mention that this week a new service called BrowserPopcorn appeared, and we have to make it clear that it has nothing to do with the situation that still exists today.

As we mentioned earlier this week, PopcornTime is reportedly in transition. Disagreements within the Popcorn Time development team for and power reportedly broke up the original group. So key members have now left the project, while others report that they will continue.

Meanwhile PopcornTime.io yesterday was offline.

To mention that the site is owned by David Lemarier, also known as "phnz" David Lemarier, as we mentioned in a previous post, was one of the developers who left earlier this week.

With this in mind, we should assume that the is linked to his departure. For now the page is back online, while the https://yts.to does not say to appear.

Also for reasons that are not yet clear, the Facebook official account has disappeared.

But the problems seem to be deeper, according to TorrentFreak. Pages contributing to PopcornTime.io report additional problems.

For those who know, if the nameservers change to a domain, the page "disappears" and returns after 24 to 48 hours, until the internet providers are informed of the change. But after the change, some of the APIs that PopcornTime uses are also disabled.

This is also the issue of greatest concern.

Most, if not all, versions of Popcorn Time use the YTS.to website that distributes the movies. But up to now YTS.to is offline, which means Popcorn Time will have problems.

TorrentFreak contacted the YTS manager (formerly known as YIFY), but has not received any response.

At least now it appears that the problems faced by PopcornTime.io and its team are separate from the problems faced by YTS. However, due to PopcornTime's reliance on YTS for the , the system crashes when the tracker doesn't work as it should.
