What is sxolinux?

From the official page:

  • The Schoolex (ή sxolinux) is a free and free operating system Linx for students. It consists mostly of free software and is based on Ubuntu Linux το οποίο τροποποιούμε (με μια διαδικασία που λέγεται remastering) με έξτρα πακέτα λογισμικού, για τις ανάγκες των μαθητών, αλλά και διαφορετικό γραφικό , icons and physical logos, to suit the distribution's "audience".
  • We make 2 slightly different versions of Scholinox:
    • The "regular" Scholiox for Gymnasium students
    • School Junior for Primary School Students.
  • Scholinox and Junior School are Live DVD with installation capability. This means that Scholinox is running "live" through a DVD disc without having to directly install it on your hard drive. If you like it and you want to take advantage of all its capabilities, then you can install it with one very simple and automated process.
  • Because of its nature, ie the existence of users' rights, different software management, free educational applications, and mainly the cooperative development model it points to children, Scholinox is ideal for students as it combines:
    • safety, ie from from viruses and malware,
    • make good use of computer capabilities,
    • learning a different knowledge-building model (constructivist-collaborative), which can not exist in proprietary operating systems (see Windows).
    • zero cost. You do not pay for Sxolinux nothing.
    • dozens educational applications and books

What we want to do:

  • Let's make a friendly distribution Linux for elementary and high school students with all the school textbooks PDF and all the educational software of the Pedagogical Institute, for which it exists repository for distribution Ubuntu.
  • To support what children use the Scholinox through our forum to solve their problems, and if possible learn and love Free Software.

What we do not want:

  • We do not target pre-installations on laptops, nor do we have "interviews" with ministries, shops, etc. We make our taste, amateurish in the romantic sense, that is, we do not "sell" something or "make" something.

However, thanks to the work of simple users, the sxolinux has also been in school workshops and to school libraries.

At the same time, the humble little girl has managed to keep us busy periodically :)

sxolinux

To try or even install Scholinux, you need to download a file «s" with an .iso extension, which you will "write" to a blank DVD with the Burn Image process (logically there will be such in the CD/DVD burning application you are using). Then restart your computer. Sxolinux will start automatically!

Acknowledgments: The Scholinox ISO is hosted on its servers National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Thanks a lot to his admins for space and bandwidth offer!
