WhatsApp acquisition from Facebook with the amazing amount of 19 billion dollars continues to make headlines around the world. But it is worthwhile to see some details that make the difference.
Ironically, co-founder Brian Acton of WhatsApp has addressed Facebook in August of 2009 by making a job application. Bloomberg says the application was rejected by the social network. After his unsuccessful attempt, Brian himself, with a Twitter publication, expressed his disappointment, alongside his optimism about the future.
He soon teamed up with ex-Yahoo employee Jan Koum to start its development applications that would change their lives. Acton has had the last laugh, after securing the deal with the same company that turned him down five years ago.
Co-founder of the messaging service Jan Koum has also faced several challenges during his life. The 38-year-old developer had a very poor childhood age, when his family fled to Ukraine, after drop of the Soviet Union. As a teenager, he remembers the family using food stamps to survive. After hard work commitment and dedication, the duo was able to retire early as the money they made with his idea can see them through for life.
