Microsoft finally stopped offering free upgrades from Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.
The "loophole" that allowed upgrades of older systems to Windows 10 stopped working as of yesterday afternoon, while in the morning the free page Upgrade still had download links.
For the July 2016 story, Microsoft officially completed the Get Windows 10 program, which allowed anyone who ran a supported version of Windows to a free upgrade to Windows 10.
However, the free upgrade offer remained open (artificially, like Kapodistrias' potato fable) to people using technologies support in Windows 7 and 8.1.
Of course, the company did not confirm whether all those who upgraded their systems were using support technologies.
As of yesterday, Microsoft stopped the free upgrade offer, and the official websiteσελίδα of the promo he says:
"Σας ευχαριστούμε για το ενδιαφέρον σας για τα Windows 10. Η extension the free upgrade offer for Windows 7 and Windows 8 users using assistive technologies ended on December 31, 2017. Alternatively, Windows 10 software and devices are available for purchase from store λιανικής πώλησης."
So from now on, those using Windows 7, 8.1 and wishing to upgrade to Windows 10 have no other choice choice rather than buying a license, which of course costs money. In the United States, Windows 10 Home costs $119,99, while the Pro version sells for $199,99.
According to the latest statistics released by NetMarketShare, Windows 7 is the desktop operating system number one with a market share reaching 43,08%, followed by Window 10 with 32,93%.
