Along with the consumer releases of Windows 10 21H2, Microsoft will update the Enterprise channel with a new LTSC release. LTSC versions of Windows 10 were supported with 10 years of updates (Long-Term Servicing Channel).
But soon Microsoft is reducing this support period to 5 years from 2021.
Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC will be released in the second half (H2) of 2021 and the only version that will continue to be supported for 10 years will be Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC. Windows 10 Client LTSC will be supported for 5 years, as well as the upcoming one Office 2021.
Microsoft said it took this step because it was found that many companies did not use and did not need the 10-year support framework.
All older LTSC versions will continue to have 10 years of support. The change will come with the upcoming Enterprise LTSC version. More information you can find here.
Windows 10 LTSC has a number of notable differences from Windows 10 Home or Pro.
For example, LTSC builds allow the user to completely disable Telemetry and Collection data. Windows 10 LTSCs also come without them installed Universal apps.
Mention that there is no legal way to get this version in your home or even in a small business. Microsoft is releasing LTSC builds in large companies and offering many extras for any corporate environment.
