Microsoft recently released the Windows 10 build May 2020 Update, or the 2004 version, to insiders enrolled in the Release Preview ring.
In other words, the development of Windows 10 May 2020 Update is now complete and its release in the Release Preview ring is the last step before Microsoft officially launches.

The release will probably take at least two months, so if you are waiting for Windows Update, depending on potential software and hardware issues on your device, you may need to wait a little longer to upgrade.
Typically, Microsoft advises everyone to wait for the update to appear in Windows Update, as this method prevents potential problems and ensures (as much as possible) that you get the correct update. However, the Media Creation Tool or the use of ISO to install the update could allow users to skip any compatibility checks and install the update.
Windows Insider will continue as normal, as Fast ring is currently being used to test features that do not have a specific release date.
If you want to try the Windows 10 May 2020 Update, you can sign up for Windows Insider and install the version available in the Release Preview ring. Of course, this is not recommended on devices you want stability and reliability.
