Windows 10 will support both MKV and FLAC files

One of the first things you do after installing Windows on a computer that you intend to use is to install VLC Media Player, SMPlayer, or BSPlayer so that you can have support for all kinds of Media.

The Windows Media Player it's a pretty good program, but it does not support all file types like MKV, FLAC or flv for example.WINMP

MKV and FLAC files are the file format used by many music lovers and image enthusiasts who dislike features such as mp3 files and compression.

Anyway, it seems that Microsoft intends to change this in future versions of Windows which apart from a new design and the new launch will also support MKV and FLAC files.

According to Grabriel Aul, her manager Microsoft's Data & Fundamentals support for FLAC files comes with the Windows 10.

Grabriel has released a screenshot of the new Windows Media Player in his Twitter account.flac windows 10

If you look closely, you will notice that all the media files in the image are FLAC files. This confirms that Microsoft is working on built-in FLAC support on the Windows 10 operating system.

The company confirmed earlier this month that it will also support MKV files in Windows 10 and that the operating system will support the format of these files natively.

Also important is the HEVC support announced by the company itself.

What does this mean;

It means that Windows 10 will support various media formats by default, which previous versions of Windows did not support.

Windows Media Player will be more used, and third-party programs will benefit from it since they will not need to install codecs.

There is currently no support for FLV files.

All of this is a sign that Microsoft is willing to abandon its old path and bring "new things" to its customers. Of course, even these small steps are welcome by users who use these formats and Windows Media Player.
