It seems that Microsoft is preparing to release the Windows 10 Pro for Workstations, yet another new version of Windows 10.
"We know that power users have unique needs and to be able to operate efficiently we take them comments which we are listening very seriously," said Microsoft Partner Program Manager Klaus Diaconu in a post on blog of the company on 10 August.
Windows 10 Pro for Workstations will have “unique support for server-grade hardware,” according to Microsoft, “and are designed to meet the demanding needs of mission-critical and workload-intensive computing.”
This new version, which will be available with upcoming Windows 10 Creators Fall Update (1703) to be released in September, will include ReFS file system, persistent memory, faster file sharing using SMB Direct, as well as support for new hardware configurations, including Intel Xeon or AMD Opteron processors with up to four CPU and memory up to 6 terabytes. Today, Windows 10 is limited to dual-CPU configurations and up to 2TB of memory.
Microsoft's transparency (embedded below) invokes the existence of the new version of Workstation.
Microsoft's original Windows 10 series included three versions of IoT devices and six other versions of Window 10: Home, Mobile, Pro, Enterprise, Education, and Mobile Enterprise. Then Microsoft added Window 10 S.
There are also two more subscriptions of Window's 10 for Business, Window 10 Enterprise E3 and E5.
