The upcoming upgrade of Windows 10 Redstone 4 will bring significant improvements to the system, and Microsoft promises that the installation will take only 30 minutes.
The development team achieved faster installation by reducing the time the installer connects to the Internet, as they managed to move most processes after the system restart to the online stage.
In other words, most of the installation process of the upcoming system will be completed before the system reboots, and everything will happen in the background, so the machine will take less time offline.
However, according to the company, this will not apply to all systems. Redstone 4 will be able to be installed in 30 minutes only on systems with compatible hardware. For everything else, you will need to go online to complete the installation.
Reducing installation time is a project with which Microsoft began to develop before the development of the Fall Creators Update. In this update, the time after restart was reduced to 38%, and in total it reached 51 minutes.
With further optimizations in Redstone 4 reduced the average time will reach 30 minutes, 63% faster compared to the previous version.
“Due to these changes, the online phase for the feature update of the operating system will take longer to complete.
However, this will not be noticeable to most users of the operating system as the installation processes operate with low priority. This way they will not have a big impact on the battery life or the performance of the system ", he says Microsoft on the insiders blog.
The Windows 10 Redstone 4 update is expected to be released in April.
