Unblock files that have been downloaded from the Internet in Windows 10

You will surely have noticed: when you download by and try to open them, Windows 10 shows you a security warning. Some file types are not allowed to open. windows 10 smartscreen

The Windows 10 SmartScreen security feature is responsible for this behavior.

So let's see how you can remove the blocking of those files.

To get rid of the warnings, you should do the following:

Right-click on the file you downloaded (you'll find it under Downloads under File ).

From the menu that opens, select the last item called "Properties".

In the Properties dialog box, on the General tab, select the check box called "Unblock"

0win10

After that, the security alert will disappear.
The above action is very useful when you want to unblock a single file.

However, if you need to unblock multiple files at once, it is not practical to right-click on each file by following the same procedure.

Using PowerShell, you can easily unblock multiple files at one time in any particular folder.

This can be done by following the steps below:

Press Win + R on your keyboard to open the RUN dialog box.
In the RUN box, type PowerShell
On the PowerShell console, type the following command:

get-childitem "C: \ Users \ iGuRu \ Downloads" unblock-file

You will of course have to change the username from iGuRu to the username you use on your system.

Windows 10 will unblock all files in the "C: Users iGuRu Downloads" folder.
